1961

Delevan F. Wolcott established his business as an independent building contractor. Over the years, he built many new homes in the Rhinebeck area, as well as additions, renovations, and small commercial projects. He developed a reputation for high quality, attention to cost-efficiency, and above all, personal integrity.

1978

D.F. Wolcott expanded to include Del's son Albert Wolcott and his nephew Richard Lawson, in a partnership under the name Wolcott Builders. The firm completed projects throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley, cultivating a specialty for high-end custom work and architect-designed private residences.

1986

With Del's retirement, Albert T. Wolcott became sole proprietor of Wolcott Builders. Under Al's leadership, the firm maintained its record of fine craftsmanship and reliability. Its work continued to grow in scope, quality, and prestige, including projects for such architects as Alan Wanzenberg, Peter Marino, Beyer Blinder Belle, Studio For and Barry Price Architecture.

2017

With Al’s retirement, ownership transitioned to Michael Walsh and Sara Wolcott Weinberg. Michael has been with Wolcott Builders since 2002. As Project Manager, Mike worked closely with Al to learn the unique Wolcott Builders approach to homebuilding, from estimating to construction, while managing multiple high-end custom projects. Now President, Mike has over 20 years of experience in the custom home-building industry, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Economics. Sara, Al’s daughter, has over ten years of administrative and business management experience and is proud be a part of the business to which her grandparents and parents built and devoted their lives.

Today

Wolcott Builders, Inc. is now a team of 25 full-time employees, with average annual gross sales over $8 million.
